
Few places exist today where your thoughts
might take you on a leisurely stroll back in time, and yet when you open
your eyes the past remains. Imagine a sultry summer evening when you happen
by a stately antebellum mansion, its long veranda, nestled in the shade of
a towering magnolia tree, beckons you into its cool depths. And while you
sit pondering the mysteries and stories the walls around you hold, history's
drama suddenly unfolds in vivid detail before you.
You hear the lonesome sound of a train whistle in the distance, and the jingle
of booted spurs, as a group of blue-clad soldiers hurry away into the night
on some secret mission. You dare not speak for fear of waking up the hands of time,
for you have found La Grange, Tennesee, where time has seemingly stood still...
